Gravity and friction

P: How does the ramp height affect how gravity is applied to the car.

H: I think that the higher the ramp is the more car will be affected by gravity. Because the force will increase the speed.

Materials:
Toy car
Track for car
4 Dominos
ruler

E: gather all materials
Build ramp 2 Dominos high, by putting them flat on top of each other.
Put car on ramp
Measure distance the car goes off the ramp in Inches.
Build ramp 3 Dominos high, by putting them flat on top of each other.
Put car on ramp
Measure distance the car goes off the ramp in Inches.
Build ramp 4 Dominos high, by putting them flat on top of each other.
Put car on ramp
Measure distance the car goes off the ramp in Inches.

Variables:
IV: ramp height
CV: the car, dominos, the ruler, the place
DV: distance traveled

O: in Excel

C: My H was supported by my observation. The higher the ramp height the more the car is affected by gravity and friction.
The ramp height in my experiment is the thing that made the difference. Gravity has a bigger affect on things that are higher up because they have more time being affected by it. Like if I drop an apple off a table it will be less affected that if I dropped it off the top of a building. From the first test I got that the car went 1/2 in. off the end of the ramp. From the second test I got that the car went about 1 in. off the end of the ramp. When I tested the ramp the third time I got the car to go 1 1/4 in. of the end of the ramp. When I tested the last time I got the car to go 1 3/4 in. off the end of the ramp.
The ramp height didn't affected the experiment very much for friction. The higher the ramp the same amount of friction. Even thought I had thought that it would I was wrong. The amount of friction was the same no matter how high the ramp was.
All in all my experiment was helpful to find how the laws affect a toy car that goes down a ramp. If the ramp was higher than the car might have gone farther.
